After getting settled into my apartment in Konstanz, I decided to head back and explore more of Switzerland. I booked a hostel packed my bag and left to visit Interlaken Switzerland the next morning. Using a connection of three trains in about three and a half hours, I found myself in the center of Switzerland located between two lakes. ( Lake Thunersee and Lake Brienersee) I walked a mile to Balmers Hostel, checked in and rented my ski gear at a near by ski store. After eating at a local Irish Pub just a few doors down from the hostel I hit the hay to prepare for the next day full of skiing.
I woke up at 7 am and got my ski gear on, headed for the bus where it took us to a near by train station where we transferred and took about an hour train ride to the base of the mountain. I then took the gondola up the ski mountain to a snow filled paradise. It was heavily snowing, with already 4-5 inches of fresh snow on the ground. The mountain was covered in clouds, you couldn't see more than ten feet in front of you, something a little scary when you don't know the mountain, the trails, or where the heck you are going. It was an experience unlike any other, struggling to find the trail markers because the resort was well above the tree.
Luckily, after taking a quick break after my first run, visibility got much better and the Swiss alps finally became visible. This sight was mesmerizing, with mile high mountain all around me. I snapped some photos and continued my adventure down the ski resort. After a few hours of skiing and taking photos, the clouds came back to the mountain making skiing almost impossible and certainly not fun, or safe. I then decided to head back down the mountain and take the train back to my hostel. I returned my ski gear, and headed back to the Irish Pub to relax and grab dinner. I then packed my bags and prepared to head back to Konstanz the following morning.
