RioJet train from Prague to Vienna.

We woke up at 7 am, showered, finished packing and took an Uber to the train station. We grabbed some food at a cafe and waited for our train to arrive. After finding our platform, we boarded the train and found our seat reservations.

This train was the nicest train I have ever been on. It was like flying first class, huge seats with lots of legroom, computer outlets, USB chargers, free WiFi, an entertainment screen, and free water, coffee, juice, and tea that you can order right from the screen on the seat back in front of you. I definitely recommend traveling on RioJet trains as this $22 ticket from Prague to Vienna was worth every penny on this four-hour trip.

Our first lunch in Vienna, (Cordon Bleu)

After arriving in Vienna, we found our way to the hostel, checked in and headed out to the Vienna street market where we found a restaurant to eat lunch at. I order cordon bleu pork and an ice-cold drink. After walking around we headed back to the hostel where I edited some photos while the others rested. We then headed downstairs to get some free ice cream and our free drink the hostel was offering. We walked to the river, people watched and then found a bite to eat before heading back to the hostel to get some sleep.

Our visit to the Schönbrunn palace.

We woke up the next morning and found a cafe to eat breakfast at. I ordered Greek yogurt with granola and fruit. It was horrible and definitely not recommended. After we made our way to Schönbrunn Palace and walked around the gardens before we grabbed a bite to eat at a local cafe. We took a short rest at the hostel, printed our boarding passes, and I edited some photos and my blog.

Afterward, we headed back to the city center where purchased fried noodles from a street vendor and people watched. It started to rain so we quickly ran back to the hostel, packed our bags and headed to sleep to walk up early for our fought back to Stuttgart the next morning.

Vienna horse drawn carriage.

We woke up at 5 am the next morning, checked out of our hostel, and got our Uber to the airport. Split among four people it was almost as cheap as the cheapest train ticket to the airport, however, was the least expensive means of transport this early in the morning and required the least amount of walking and hassle. Definitely, a recommended way to go to the airport with a group of people. We grabbed food at the airport before boarding our plane and heading back to Stuttgart airport.

It was an interesting city, however the least interesting one I have visited in Europe so far. There wasn’t a whole lot to do there, it wasn’t very pretty, compared to many of the cities I have been to so far. If I were to revisit Austria I would head to the mountains to visit the Austrian alps rather than the city of Vienna.

Thanks for reading and see you on Thursday, 7/25.
